Welcome

Why a blog from me, someone who has never been a writer, someone who has never been articulate or had a solid grasp of the grammar world. Because God told me to write. Several years ago a life storm invaded my family. God kept telling me to write it all down. I argued, but He would not let up. This went on every day for a couple of weeks until one day out of frustration, (I'd like to say it was out of obedience), I picked up a pen and paper and wrote for 7 hours straight! Do you think maybe I needed therapy and God knew it?

I've been writing ever since and have learned to love it! I started out sharing my stories with friends and family. I've now been published in a Nashville church paper, Our Daily Journey (a devotional site of RBC Ministries), PCCWeb Daily Devotional, Ruby for Women Ezine Magazine, and I am a contributor in the book Alabaster Jars, Life in Abundance Collection 2.

Why Ponderings? During this life storm, God led me to a pond in the woods behind my home. There He met me each time, teaching new lessons, reminding me of old ones, showing His presence and allowing me to feel His love through the surroundings of that pond. I found myself returning over and over to ponder, pray and praise. A healing of my heart took place and out of the experience came my first book, Ponderings From the Pond, then a second book, Ponderings From My Porch, and now a third book is in the works along with a memoir about my storm.

Why am I making myself so vulnerable? Because God has done so much that I cannot keep quiet. I have to share. Jesus's last words to his desciples were, "Go,tell." We are his disciples too and this is just one of my ways of telling.

I'm no scholar but I have heard God's voice in my spirit, experience His love daily, and have a desire for others to experience this also. I would love to share with all who visit and I would love to hear from you. If my sharing gets just one to ponder, to be quiet with the Father, to see and hear from Him or to be reminded of something from Him, then this is worth my vulnerability.

As you visit me, sometimes we will be at the pond, sometimes we will move to the front porch, and sometimes we will just be here, there, and yonder. Thank you for coming and please feel free to come back anytime, you are always welcome here.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Fill My Cup Lord

The other night at our Bridge Ministry, a friend and I went over to talk with one of our guests. Here is how a portion of that conversation played out with him. . .

Do you believe?

I believe in God but not in Jesus?

How do you believe in God but not Jesus?

Just look at this wonderful, magical world. There has to be a Creator behind it.

If you can believe in God, why can you not believe in Jesus?

There are just too many holes in that one.

The Word of God is what I base my beliefs on. What do you base your beliefs on?

I do my research to find the truth.

And where is that research?

On the internet and books.

And you believe everything you read on the internet and books but not the Bible.

There are just too many holes in that book.

***********************************************************************************

The conversation went on for a little while longer, but it seemed apparent that he didn't want to hear the truth. I have found over the years that when a person does not want to change their way of living, there is nothing you can say that will change their thoughts.  But God can!  And we pray for him that his cup will be filled with the One and only Truth, Jesus Christ.

I was reminded of a song my mother and I used to sing all the time. The name of it. . .  Fill My Cup.
Here are the words. . .

Like the woman at the well I was seeking for things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking, Draw from my well that never shall run dry.

There are millions in this world who are craving the pleasure earthly things afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure that I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.

So, my brother, if the things this world gave you leave hungers that won't pass away. My blessed Lord will come and save you, if you kneel to Him and humbly pray.

Chorus:

Fill my cup Lord
I lift it up Lord
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of heaven
feed me till I want no more,
Fill my cup,
fill it up and make me whole.
**********************************************************

I pray for this man to lift his cup full of holes.

Only Jesus Christ can fill a cup with holes and keep it full and make the holder of the cup whole.

I have people in my life who are holding cups with holes. I bet you know someone too.  Let's pray for these dear ones.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up these precious ones who cups are not full because they are holding on to ones that are full of holes. They try to fill them up with things that just drain right out and keep the precious one feeling empty. Lord, use us to help them see the holes and may they come to see that You are the only one, the HOLY One who can fill their cups and make them WHOLE. Thank you Father!

We pray in the precious Holy Name of Jesus,
Amen

Grandmamà has sung Fill My Cup for as long as I remember. It is a precious reminder of how God is the only one who can truly satisfy our "thirst." Praying for this man and for you as you continue your ministry at the bridge.

I was singing the harmony along with you on that song. Used to sing it frequently in church years ago. It is so true, NOTHING satisfies like Jesus! Oh wait, I think I feel another song coming on! :)

We'll never know on this side of eternity how important those prayers are. Thanks for reminding me to continue to pray for others to allow the Lord to fill their cups as he fills mine.

It is so encouraging in ministry to remember that only God/Jesus can change a heart. Praying with you for that cup.

Fondly,
Glenda

That man was just trying to get a rise out of you. He is lying to himself. Just quote John 3:16 or the verses in John chapter 1 to him and tell him Jesus loves him. He is just not thirsty enough for living water. We sang that chorus long ago too.

Oh yes, and thank you for sharing at "Tell Me a Story."

I have been there; You are right - you cannot logically change someone's mind when they don't want to be changed - but God can - and trusting that God can:) You have encouraged me on how to handle this:)

I always love to stop by and hear what's happening with your ministry, Kristin.

Thank you everyone for coming by. It's a pleasure to share about this ministry and how God is there each week. I feel so blessed to be a part of it!

Kristin,
It was so good to hear you stand up for the truth in a kind way. Too many people like to mask telling the truth under the word, "Love."
True, there is no way we can change a person's mind because it is the heart that needs changing and only the Holy Spirit can do that.
Praying for him is the best thing to do. God bless you.

Can you pray for my brother? He is like the man you described above. He believes and turns to supposed truths from man and the internet, but doesn't rely on the Bible. I love reading about your ministry! Will be praying for the man and his cup of holes. ;)
