Welcome

Why a blog from me, someone who has never been a writer, someone who has never been articulate or had a solid grasp of the grammar world. Because God told me to write. Several years ago a life storm invaded my family. God kept telling me to write it all down. I argued, but He would not let up. This went on every day for a couple of weeks until one day out of frustration, (I'd like to say it was out of obedience), I picked up a pen and paper and wrote for 7 hours straight! Do you think maybe I needed therapy and God knew it?

I've been writing ever since and have learned to love it! I started out sharing my stories with friends and family. I've now been published in a Nashville church paper, Our Daily Journey (a devotional site of RBC Ministries), PCCWeb Daily Devotional, Ruby for Women Ezine Magazine, and I am a contributor in the book Alabaster Jars, Life in Abundance Collection 2.

Why Ponderings? During this life storm, God led me to a pond in the woods behind my home. There He met me each time, teaching new lessons, reminding me of old ones, showing His presence and allowing me to feel His love through the surroundings of that pond. I found myself returning over and over to ponder, pray and praise. A healing of my heart took place and out of the experience came my first book, Ponderings From the Pond, then a second book, Ponderings From My Porch, and now a third book is in the works along with a memoir about my storm.

Why am I making myself so vulnerable? Because God has done so much that I cannot keep quiet. I have to share. Jesus's last words to his desciples were, "Go,tell." We are his disciples too and this is just one of my ways of telling.

I'm no scholar but I have heard God's voice in my spirit, experience His love daily, and have a desire for others to experience this also. I would love to share with all who visit and I would love to hear from you. If my sharing gets just one to ponder, to be quiet with the Father, to see and hear from Him or to be reminded of something from Him, then this is worth my vulnerability.

As you visit me, sometimes we will be at the pond, sometimes we will move to the front porch, and sometimes we will just be here, there, and yonder. Thank you for coming and please feel free to come back anytime, you are always welcome here.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

A Munchkin, A Giant and A Green Coat

This was the bridge last night when we got there to set up the Homeless Outreach Ministry.  Now that the clocks are set back, it's dark much sooner.  A beautiful thing happened at the end of this bridge tonight.  But this story started this morning at 7:00 am.  I received a text from a friend of mine, the director of Red Cross. She wanted to know if I knew of a certain person that needed a coat and what size.  I told her about Mike and the size was XXL.

I will let her tell the rest in her own words. . .

"I can't even put into words what an amazing heart my three year old has...he decided yesterday he was going to give a coat to a person who didn't have a home...he reminded me of this, this morning...so I sent a text and soon knew of a need and what size coat we needed to buy...I picked Justin up from daycare so we could go shopping...he told me the the coat HAD to be green...we stopped by the office and were there a little longer than intended and a volunteer stopped by...I told Justin to tell him what he was doing...the volunteer said he had coats in his car he was taking to donate and asked what size we needed...I told him and off he and Justin went...minutes later Justin was dragging a xxl GREEN coat down the hall...we added a stocking cap and some new gloves...at 5:00 we went down to the bridge and Justin gave the coat to his new friend...he was shy at first but they quickly became best of friends...Justin didn't want to leave...he followed his new friend around, they played, they talked and Justin gave him the biggest hug ever when we left! It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! If we could all see the world through the eyes of a three year old, this world would be a much sweeter place! Our motto today is God is sooooo big! What a beautiful day!"

First of all, I'm thinking what a precious little boy!  At age three, he is thinking of a homeless person and wanting to give what he thinks they need, which he was right.  He wanted a specific color and hours later, God, being a God of details, brings the little guy the coat, the right size, and the right color.  Justin wanted to give the coat to our friend at the bridge, so his momma brought him.

Mike had been feeling low that morning and wasn't going to show up, but his friend talked him into coming.  Justin handed the coat to Mike. . .

Mike shook Justin's hand. .

We could all see how touched Mike was not just with the coat, which fit him perfectly by the way, but by little Justin.  We were all touched!

I began to see Mike smile. Justin had to run back to his momma and act shy for just about. . .two seconds. . .

and then he and Mike became buddies.  It was a beautiful sight!

A little boy with a great big heart I think, melted just maybe a little bit, or maybe just a lot, the heart of a giant and many others around.

Justin hung around Mike the whole evening, running around him, talking with him, they sat next to each other while Justin enjoyed some taco soup.

You know those words. . ."and a little child shall lead them"?

Yeah, look at the text Justin's mother sent me later that night after we were all home. . .

"As soon as we pulled onto the road, Justin said he wanted to get another coat tomorrow.  I told him there were other needs and he wanted me to text you right away.  He even prayed for Mike to get a place to live.  First time he's prayed other than blessing meals.  It was so beautiful!

Many adults could learn from Justin. . . could be led by his little, great big heart.

A gift on the bridge. . .was it the coat. . .was it a new friendship. . .was it unconditional love, was it the beauty of a child leading the way?

"If we could all see the world through the eyes of a three year old, this world would be a much sweeter place"

You rock Justin!
Come back soon :)

Good night bridge. . .I wonder what things it holds for us all next week?

Oh what a sweetheart! This is why scripture tells us we must be like little children to enter heaven...unconditional love, unselfishness, hearts that don't judge and forgive easily. This reminds me of my own 6 year old...what a sweet heart she has too. Loved this story...bless you my sweet friend!

How beautiful. It makes me cry for the joy Justin brought to his friend. And cry for the worldy people who just do not get it. Imagine if even 20% of our population had the wisdom that Justin has.

Oh friend, this blessed me in so many ways. I am in the middle of a coat drive at work and I am looking forward to God stories like this! But today I've written a story about how my own child leads me at times...oh how good He is to teach us the way that He does!
