Welcome

Why a blog from me, someone who has never been a writer, someone who has never been articulate or had a solid grasp of the grammar world. Because God told me to write. Several years ago a life storm invaded my family. God kept telling me to write it all down. I argued, but He would not let up. This went on every day for a couple of weeks until one day out of frustration, (I'd like to say it was out of obedience), I picked up a pen and paper and wrote for 7 hours straight! Do you think maybe I needed therapy and God knew it?

I've been writing ever since and have learned to love it! I started out sharing my stories with friends and family. I've now been published in a Nashville church paper, Our Daily Journey (a devotional site of RBC Ministries), PCCWeb Daily Devotional, Ruby for Women Ezine Magazine, and I am a contributor in the book Alabaster Jars, Life in Abundance Collection 2.

Why Ponderings? During this life storm, God led me to a pond in the woods behind my home. There He met me each time, teaching new lessons, reminding me of old ones, showing His presence and allowing me to feel His love through the surroundings of that pond. I found myself returning over and over to ponder, pray and praise. A healing of my heart took place and out of the experience came my first book, Ponderings From the Pond, then a second book, Ponderings From My Porch, and now a third book is in the works along with a memoir about my storm.

Why am I making myself so vulnerable? Because God has done so much that I cannot keep quiet. I have to share. Jesus's last words to his desciples were, "Go,tell." We are his disciples too and this is just one of my ways of telling.

I'm no scholar but I have heard God's voice in my spirit, experience His love daily, and have a desire for others to experience this also. I would love to share with all who visit and I would love to hear from you. If my sharing gets just one to ponder, to be quiet with the Father, to see and hear from Him or to be reminded of something from Him, then this is worth my vulnerability.

As you visit me, sometimes we will be at the pond, sometimes we will move to the front porch, and sometimes we will just be here, there, and yonder. Thank you for coming and please feel free to come back anytime, you are always welcome here.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

I Am Redeemed

I had never questioned my salvation.  I believed once I asked Jesus into my heart, that was it! And that's the way it should be. Back in the 90's, an evangelist came to my church and preached a wonderful message on the wheat and the tares.  It seemed to make a lot of people in the congregation begin to doubt.  I was not doubting until the alter call when I looked up and saw many strong christian friends and members of the church begin to walk the isle and pray and asking for baptism. . .again.

I silently said to the Lord, "Oh Lord, if they are not sure, should I be asking again.  Am I not really yours?"  And as clear as a bell, I heard him reply, "You are my child, do not fear."  I immediately felt at peace and have never asked again.

The neat thing was, not only did I hear from Him clearly in that church building, but after I went home, I randomely opened up my bible to read and it fell to Isaiah 43 and my eyes immediately fell to the end of verse 1.  It says this. . .

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."

He sealed it with His Word!

(it was not random)

Do you ever wonder if God really speaks and does He really know whats going on inside of us?  You bet He does.

How has He spoken to your heart?  What scriptures did He lead you to to reaffirm or answer a question you had or led you to make a decision, or to comfort you?  I could go on and on but I'll save those for another post.  Please share yours.  It just may encourage someone who really needs it right now.

God bless you~

I think they happen all the time when my mind is at rest and my soul is open and ready to hear the message. I think the answers I see always come in signs, or a message sent by someone, or a new post written by someone that speaks to my need that day.

I lost my gratitude journal at chemo. It had been given to me by a friend who had recently passed away and I was devastated. Three weeks later, a nurse came carrying my journal- found suddenly in the room I had the previously been in. We had turned that room upside down- and yet a cleaning woman had found it. It had Sara's hands written all over it- and Gods as well.

Came across your post at the exact same time I "happened" to be listening to, "I am Redeemed" by Big Daddy Weave. Have you heard it? Thought it was a pretty cool coincidence. Bless you, my friend, jen

I love this post, Kristin.

I've been in that situation, where satan tries to cast doubt and fear about where I'll spend eternity. I've grown up in churches where I saw people getting saved. . .again and again. It wasn't uncommon to hear people saying, "I have to go get saved again."

Because of my husband's leadership, my father-in-law showing me the Truth of God's word, and the wonderful church we attend, I am so thankful to realize that my salvation is in God's hands and not my own.

Here is the Scripture passage that gave me clarity:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are One." John 10:27-30

Hi Kristin,
I find many people who profess to be Christians, yet they do not know for sure if they are saved.

1 John 5:13 makes it clear that we can know that we are saved.

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,[a] and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."

Thanks for sharing and God bless,
Ken

Really love this.

I love this. I love hearing from the Lord and being led by Him. Psalm 91:1 seems to be what I've been hearing and from various places lately: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

When the doctors said it was impossible for me to have a child, God showed me His word in 1 Corinthians 2:5. His power is greater than the doctors' wisdom, Hallelujah! I have three boys to show for it...
thanks for asking Kristin, I praise God all over again!
Have a super blessed day!

I do believe He knows my every thought. Just yesterday, thought, I was wishing for a messenger of the Lord... or God himself to whisper direction into my ear... like in the old testament! Even so, I am so grateful for the active Spirit within and His absolutely affirming Word to guide us! Great post :)

I love these "God-incidences" of the Bible falling open to just the words that answer the questions in our hearts or point us to just the truth we need to see. Sometimes comforting, sometimes convicting, just giving the insight we need. And when it comes through multiple other avenues as well, how confirming that can be! Thanks for sharing this.

While some waver and never understand their security in Cbrist, it often takes as post as you have written to help them come face to face that they are definitely born again. Thank you for sharing at "Tell Me a Story"

When I was starting to feel impatient and really needed an answer, God led me to this verse:Psalm 27:14 "Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."

That verse helped so much and comforted me as I felt that the Lord was giving me that patience. Thank you for a wonderful post and reminder that when our heart has truly accepted Christ as our Savior...our lives our sealed and we really are saved.

I doubt that I've ever questioned my salvation. It happened so specifically at such a specific stretch of time... and drew me out of a lifestyle that would have caused me to die young.

However, I can't say I've never wondered if I was in the right place at the right time. [Struggling a bit with that right now, for the first time in many YEARS. So, just need to wait upon and trust that He will break through whatever this wall is.]

His Word and touch on my heart and word spoken to me... nothing is more glorious.

Thanks for your sharing aspect.

I love when He seals the message to me in His Word. Yes, indeed, He speaks to me. I was in tears on Sunday because of a cruel person coming against our family and yesterday morning first thing in my Bible time I opened up the Word to Hosea 1 in my study plan. Nahum 1 The Lord avenges His adversaries!
