Welcome

Why a blog from me, someone who has never been a writer, someone who has never been articulate or had a solid grasp of the grammar world. Because God told me to write. Several years ago a life storm invaded my family. God kept telling me to write it all down. I argued, but He would not let up. This went on every day for a couple of weeks until one day out of frustration, (I'd like to say it was out of obedience), I picked up a pen and paper and wrote for 7 hours straight! Do you think maybe I needed therapy and God knew it?

I've been writing ever since and have learned to love it! I started out sharing my stories with friends and family. I've now been published in a Nashville church paper, Our Daily Journey (a devotional site of RBC Ministries), PCCWeb Daily Devotional, Ruby for Women Ezine Magazine, and I am a contributor in the book Alabaster Jars, Life in Abundance Collection 2.

Why Ponderings? During this life storm, God led me to a pond in the woods behind my home. There He met me each time, teaching new lessons, reminding me of old ones, showing His presence and allowing me to feel His love through the surroundings of that pond. I found myself returning over and over to ponder, pray and praise. A healing of my heart took place and out of the experience came my first book, Ponderings From the Pond, then a second book, Ponderings From My Porch, and now a third book is in the works along with a memoir about my storm.

Why am I making myself so vulnerable? Because God has done so much that I cannot keep quiet. I have to share. Jesus's last words to his desciples were, "Go,tell." We are his disciples too and this is just one of my ways of telling.

I'm no scholar but I have heard God's voice in my spirit, experience His love daily, and have a desire for others to experience this also. I would love to share with all who visit and I would love to hear from you. If my sharing gets just one to ponder, to be quiet with the Father, to see and hear from Him or to be reminded of something from Him, then this is worth my vulnerability.

As you visit me, sometimes we will be at the pond, sometimes we will move to the front porch, and sometimes we will just be here, there, and yonder. Thank you for coming and please feel free to come back anytime, you are always welcome here.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Blessings in Green

This past Saturday was graduation day for Greenwood High School, Class of 2011.

As I sat up in the stands of Diddle Arena waiting for the ceremony to start I kept seeing my graduate as a baby,
then a toddler,
then a real little boy,
then a teengager,
and now a young man.

I remember kissing his brand new baby skin cheek,
then his round little boy face,
then the face changing into a young man
and now I kiss the strong, bearded jaw of a man. . .

but in my heart I still see that little boy holding his arms up for me to pick him up.   He doesn't need me to pick him up anymore.  He picks me up! :)  And when he needs to reach out, I pray he remembers to reach for the Righteous Right Hand that is always out ready to grab. Mine and his dad's will be there too, but it's time to back away and let him fly out on his own. But  I do lift him up in prayer every day because that's just what momma's do and I will until the day I breathe my last breath.
My blessings this week are surrounded in a sea of green. . .

#522.  a sea of green

#523.  green, square hat ~ waited 18 years for this hat

#524.  green, square, flying hats. . .

#525.  father and son

#526.  friends

 #527.  brotherly love

#528.  tassels with the #11

#529.  little boy in my heart, grown man before my eyes, part of my heart running outside of my body for the last 18 years

A funny little frog once said, "It's not easy being green."  I'm sure it wasn't always easy for these graduates over the last four years to earn their green coat and square cap, but they made it.  We were never promised an easy life but are offfered a Savior who will be there with us to help us through the tough times, and there to rejoice with us through the good times.  Are we there for Him?  My son is and was one night as he spoke to a friend the most important words we can speak to another...and then they prayed together.

My graduate brought this one to the Savior. . .
his words to my son at the end of this school year is blessing #530

"What can I say, the man who brought me to God, the man who baptized me. I'm just at a loss for words when I think about what you have done for me.  I'll never forget what happened.  I love you bro'."

This to me, is more important than book learning. Our eternity hangs on what is inside our hearts.
Are we helping others who need this gift?
Something to ponder on. . .

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Don't get me wrong.  Learning is very important!  Don't give up on books, reading, and learning.  But let grace, mercy, and salvation be a part of the cirriculum too.  It is the greatest life lesson we can learn.  And if you do, you will be with me in a place one day where I hear the colors are so vibrant, we cannot even imagine the beauty and brilliance of them. . .imagine the greenest green of all you have seen. . .and then ponder on how the green will be even more brilliant than we can comprehend. . . a sea of green like we've never seen before. . .and where the blessings flow endlessly.

Blessings to you dear friends!

Visiting from Ann's...Wow...what a powerful interchange between your son and his friend. May we all "live the story" and see lives changed as a result!

Yikes!!!!! I feel like a blubbering fool here with tears of pride for your son and joy for you, Kristin. I felt all wrapped up in those moments, but the two friends, now brothers in Christ --- that one got me. You hit the nail on the head today. It isn't the learning and the knowledge we receive, it's the mercy and grace and the gift of God's saving love that we extend to others that have eternal merit and value! Thank you so much!

Merciful heavens! This post should have come with a warning label: Do not attempt to read without tissues handy, especially if you have a son of your own! #529 did me in. And #530? No words. Congratulations. What a handsome young man.

So proud for you and of your sweet son! I so agree that those things you mentioned need to be part of the greater curriculum, too! Grace, hope, love...without these we will not be the hands and feet of the Savior!

What a magnificent young man! I'm with Nancy, though... needed a Kleenex. My grown-up "boys" affect me the same way.
Thanks for your visit and kind comment on my blog today.

A sea of green. . .I love it.

I'm not ready for my eight-year-old to go on to third grade. I can't imagine this.

Congrats, to both of you.

The premise for your blog is beautiful!

Oh my. You recalling the stages of your graduate just pulls at my heart strings. I was just thinking today about my Kindergarten graduate, as I filled my nearly three-year-olds drawers with his size 3 summer hand-me-downs.It feels like he was just wearing them! I just know High School is right around the corner...and I'm sure I will have a multitude to be grateful for, as you do, when that time comes. :)

I love "part of my heart running outside of my body..." Wow, that is beautiful. My son graduated this year too! It is surreal, isn't it?

Just reading about this gives me hope. That yes, our way of teaching is the way to The Father.

Thank you for this and congratulations to your son....mine has two more years to go :)
