Welcome

Why a blog from me, someone who has never been a writer, someone who has never been articulate or had a solid grasp of the grammar world. Because God told me to write. Several years ago a life storm invaded my family. God kept telling me to write it all down. I argued, but He would not let up. This went on every day for a couple of weeks until one day out of frustration, (I'd like to say it was out of obedience), I picked up a pen and paper and wrote for 7 hours straight! Do you think maybe I needed therapy and God knew it?

I've been writing ever since and have learned to love it! I started out sharing my stories with friends and family. I've now been published in a Nashville church paper, Our Daily Journey (a devotional site of RBC Ministries), PCCWeb Daily Devotional, Ruby for Women Ezine Magazine, and I am a contributor in the book Alabaster Jars, Life in Abundance Collection 2.

Why Ponderings? During this life storm, God led me to a pond in the woods behind my home. There He met me each time, teaching new lessons, reminding me of old ones, showing His presence and allowing me to feel His love through the surroundings of that pond. I found myself returning over and over to ponder, pray and praise. A healing of my heart took place and out of the experience came my first book, Ponderings From the Pond, then a second book, Ponderings From My Porch, and now a third book is in the works along with a memoir about my storm.

Why am I making myself so vulnerable? Because God has done so much that I cannot keep quiet. I have to share. Jesus's last words to his desciples were, "Go,tell." We are his disciples too and this is just one of my ways of telling.

I'm no scholar but I have heard God's voice in my spirit, experience His love daily, and have a desire for others to experience this also. I would love to share with all who visit and I would love to hear from you. If my sharing gets just one to ponder, to be quiet with the Father, to see and hear from Him or to be reminded of something from Him, then this is worth my vulnerability.

As you visit me, sometimes we will be at the pond, sometimes we will move to the front porch, and sometimes we will just be here, there, and yonder. Thank you for coming and please feel free to come back anytime, you are always welcome here.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Speed Bumps

One day my son and I were driving home from Wal-Mart and I decided to go behind the mall because of less traffic there than in the front.  But there are a lot of speed bumps in the back which seems to irritate my son because you have to slow down every few yards.  In my really bad Darth Vader impression, I told him, “You must master the speed bumps or the world may master you.”  He acted like that was really corny but I noticed he couldn’t keep from smiling.  I can tickle even him at times!
But I kept thinking about my Darth Vader sentence and thought there were lessons in there to think about.  A lot of us go speeding through our days like there is no tomorrow.  Go, Go, Go.
Yesterday, I spent the whole day alone, very quiet, with head bowed, at times on my knees, at other times lying prostrate on the floor praying for eight different people, eight different situations, and thanking God for eight miracles to come.  I went into hunger mode to be filled by Him, to be in tune with Him as best as I could.  By 5:00 pm I had a terrific headache.  But with a couple of Tylenols and a good stiff neck rub, I was all better.  There is nothing like a good cleansing of self and falling at the throne for grace and miracles-to-be and praising the One on the throne for all His good gifts.  I feel at peace, I feel content, and I feel very grateful!  I am full.
My husband told me if you keep going over the speed bumps in the parking lot too fast, you can throw the car out of alignment.  I believe it’s the same with our lives.  If we keep going at this fast pace, our lives can be thrown out of alignment.  If we do not let the speed bumps slow us down, we can crash in our relationships, in our physical health, in our mental, emotional, and spiritual health.  There are a lot of things that need to be done in our day but let’s always remember to let the speed bump, the Holy Spirit, speak to us, to slow us down before we go racing into a conversation without thinking, before we go racing through our day without consulting our Lord about what it is He wants us to do, who He wants us to speak to, what He wants us to say, where He wants us to go.  Let’s always slow down and consult Him before we make decisions.  Let’s slow down and remember the ones who do not know how to and lift them up to the Savior.  Let’s don’t rush over those speed bumps and throw ourselves out of alignment.  But, if we do, let’s also remember we can always fall to the floor and ask to be realigned. He is always there, waiting and willing.

Beautiful Kristy! I recognized that being off of work for these last two weeks I have been going non stop... desiring to take it slow and easy, listening to our Lord, spending time with him. I quit work and then rushed right into life even faster than before. This is a wonderful reminder, a confirmation to take it slow and easy. :) I love the wisdom that the Lord gives you the things he shows you. If we slow down enough He can speak to us all like that. :)

I've said for some time now that I believe Satan uses our "busyness" to distract us from focusing on Christ. We are far, far too busy here in the U.S.
